A home provides shelter. Livestock provides a livelihood. For Dinesh and Bharoti Tanti, the floods damaged both. Dinesh, 35, worked as a daily wage labourer, while Bharoti cared for their livestock and managed the household.

The floods damaged their house and animal shelter. The family also lost livestock and essential belongings, from cooking utensils and bedding to clothes, furniture and food stocks. With their home damaged and livestock rearing disrupted, rebuilding has become a difficult task.

Relief supplies from SEEDS and other organisations have helped meet some immediate needs. But Dinesh and Bharoti still need to repair their home and sanitation facilities, improve access to safe drinking water and replace the animals they lost.

Their hope is to restore the foundations of everyday life: a safer place to live, essential household items and the livestock that can once again support their livelihood.

Together, let’s help Dinesh and Bharoti Tanti rebuild.
