For Imy Chetia Mili and her husband, Aniruddha, their grocery shop was more than a business. It was how they supported their son and managed everyday needs. Alongside the shop, Imy sold handwoven traditional dresses and cared for their livestock, helping the family make ends meet.

The July 2026 floods damaged their bamboo home and destroyed the grocery shop. Their cow, goat, poultry and five quintals of stored paddy were lost. Household belongings, including their son’s study table and books, were also damaged.

The family has rebuilt the shop and taken its first step towards recovery. But reopening the business has not restored the security they once had. Their home still needs repairs, access to safe drinking water and sanitation remains a concern, and replacing their lost livestock is still a challenge.

Imy and Aniruddha hope to strengthen their business, repair their home and rebuild the resources their family depended on. They have begun again with what they have. With timely support, they can continue moving towards a safer home and a steadier livelihood.

Let’s help Imy and her family rebuild with greater security and hope.
