Junmoni Held On to Her Home. Now She Hopes to Rebuild

For Junmoni Pagag Payeng, home has always been closely connected to the life she built around it. Her five bighas of paddy fields, kitchen garden and livestock helped her family meet every day needs and look towards the next harvest.

When the floods struck Khabalu in July 2026, Junmoni chose to stay behind while others moved to safer places. She wanted to protect her home. Yet the rising waters took away her cows, goats and pigs and disrupted the agricultural activities that sustained her family.

Junmoni held on to her home, but rebuilding the life around it has proved difficult.

The floodwaters have receded, but she continues to face the challenge of restoring her livelihood. Lost livestock and disrupted paddy cultivation have left her with fewer resources to rely on as she works towards recovery.

She hopes to raise goats and restart poultry farming over the next few months. With support for livestock, paddy seeds and essential household items, she could begin rebuilding the resources that once helped her support her family.

For Junmoni, the goal is to remain in her home and regain the means to provide for herself through her own efforts.

Let’s stand with Junmoni as she rebuilds her livelihood and works towards a more secure tomorrow.
