The floodwaters have receded, but Nimoli Mili's home is still struggling to stand.

Before the Assam floods of 2026, Nimoli and her family of three depended on daily wage labour and livestock for their livelihood. Their modest earnings helped them manage everyday expenses.

The floods left their bamboo chang ghar tilted to one side, forcing the family to support it with temporary bamboo posts. Their kitchen and sanitation facilities were also damaged. The loss of their cow, goats and poultry further reduced the resources they could depend on.

Today, limited and uncertain earnings make it difficult for Nimoli and Landu to repair their home and replace what they have lost. The family has received food, household items, hygiene kits and utensil kits from SEEDS and other organisations. But access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation is still the challenge.

For Nimoli's family, recovery means making their home safe again, restoring essential facilities and rebuilding the livelihood that once supported them.

Together let’s help Nimoli and her family take the next steps towards recovery and a more secure future.
