Nirumai Payeng Hopes to Rebuild Her Livelihood After the Floods
Khabalu, Lakhimpur
At 28, Nirumai Payeng worked to support her family through paddy cultivation, livestock rearing and a small kitchen garden. Her goats, pigs and ducks were valuable resources that helped sustain everyday life.
The floods disrupted the family’s livelihood, and the lack of daily wage work left them facing food shortages and financial strain. With their usual sources of support affected, rebuilding has not been easy.
Nirumai hopes to restart poultry rearing, bring two or three goats back into her household and obtain paddy seeds for cultivation. These are the resources she hopes will help her regain greater independence.
Her hope for the coming months is simple: to raise goats and poultry again, cultivate paddy and become self-reliant.
Let’s help Nirumai rebuild the livelihood she depends on and take the next step towards a more secure future.
