Punimala Taye Is Working Towards a Fresh Start
Santak Bor Miching Gaon, Nazira Block, Sibsagar District, Assam
Punimala Taye and her family depended on farming and livestock to meet their daily needs. While Minabor Taye, 66, and his sons worked on the farmland, Punimala cared for the livestock and children. Their crops and animals helped sustain their household and support their school-going child.
The floods covered their farmland with mud, destroying all standing crops. Their bamboo chang ghar, granary, toilet and washroom were also damaged. The family lost goats and poultry, along with essential household belongings.
The family now relies on daily wage work for some income, but rebuilding what they lost remains difficult. Their damaged home needs repairs, and access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation remains a concern.
Punimala hopes to replace the lost livestock, repair her home and rebuild the family’s livelihood over the next three to six months.
The harvest is gone, but the hope of rebuilding remains.
Let’s help Punimala’s family restore its livelihood and move towards a more secure future.
