Head: Ramesh Panging

Ramesh Panging’s family depended on fish vending, farming and livestock rearing to make ends meet. While Ramesh sold fish, his wife, Ruma, 45, managed the livestock and household. Their 3.5 bighas of farmland and livestock helped supplement their monthly earnings of ₹8,000–₹9,000.

The Assam flood 2026 submerged their farmland, interrupted Ramesh’s fish vending and swept away their cow, goat and pig. The family also lost essential household belongings, while the granary, toilet and washroom were damaged.

Relief assistance from SEEDS and other organisation has helped the family meet immediate needs, but its livelihood remains disrupted. Restoring fish vending, replacing livestock and assessing the damage to the farmland are important steps towards regaining financial stability.

When several sources of livelihood are disrupted at once, rebuilding takes time. Let’s help Ramesh’s family regain its footing and move forward with dignity.
