For Geeta Nishad, home is where she has raised her two daughters, carried the responsibilities of a family and built a life through years of hard work.

After losing her husband 15 years ago, Geeta became the sole parent supporting her family. Daily wage labour and small-scale farming helped the three of them manage their everyday needs.

Then came the Mandakini River floods.

On 29 August 2026, floodwaters entered their home in Pandari village, damaging food grains, clothes and essential belongings. The house itself was left with cracks in its walls, while the ground beneath it began to sink.

The family now faces an uncertain living situation. Their home is no longer safe to live in. With household essentials lost and food supplies running short, Geeta also face challenges in rebuilding a secure environment for her daughter.

For her, recovery is not just about repairing a damaged house. It is about restoring the security and stability her family needs to move forward.

Help Geeta and her daughters rebuild a safer place to call home.
