The Flood Took Jabin Begum’s Home. Help Her Family Rebuild.
Santak Bor Miching Village, Nazira Block, Sivasagar District, Assam
When the floodwaters swept through Santak Bor Miching village in Assam, Jabin Begum lost almost everything her family depended on.
Her home was severely damaged and is no longer safe to live in. Her livestock, an important part of the family’s livelihood, was swept away. Utensils, household essentials and many of the everyday things that made their house a home were damaged or lost.
Today, Jabin Begum and her family are staying in a neighbour’s house.
They have ration and drinking water to help them through the immediate aftermath of the flood. But rebuilding will take more than immediate relief.
Jabin Begum says:
“The water has been standing here for the past 5–6 days, though it has receded a little today. When the house was flooded, we could not stay inside and had to find a safe place to sleep.
Now that the water is slowly going down, we have returned to clean our home and try to cook and eat here. But the flood damaged all the goods I had stocked.”
For Jabin Begum, recovery means more than replacing what was lost. It means having a safe place where her family can live again.
Your support can help them take the next steps towards rebuilding.
