Her Home Was Damaged. Now Bimu Is Ready to Rebuild.
Santak Bor Miching Village, Nazira Block, Sivasagar District, Assam
A safe home gives a family a place to live, recover and look ahead. For Bimu Morang and her family, the floods changed that sense of security when water damaged their home in Santak Bor Miching village, Assam.
The back wall and boundary of their house broke down. The family also lost around 15 poultry birds, two pigs and two cows, along with household belongings that were damaged or washed away.
Before the flood, Biman's household lived on an indicative ₹4,800–₹6,100 a month, coming largely from farm work and the livestock the family kept at home, based on typical income levels for similar households in the area and yet to be confirmed through field verification.
Now, as the waters recede, Bimu is focused on what comes next: cleaning up, rebuilding her home and restoring the things her family needs to move forward.
Bimu shares her experience:“My name is Srimati Bimu Morang. Due to the flood, the back side wall and boundary of our house broke down. We lost around 15 poultry birds, two pigs and two cows. All our household items and belongings were destroyed or lost.”
For Bimu, rebuilding means creating a safe home for her family and restoring the assets that are part of their everyday lives.
